Draddiosos, the Gem Scale, is the hidden god most closely associated with gem dragons, secrets, guarded knowledge, and the psionic traditions deeply rooted in gemstone dragonkind. He is not included among the ordinary pantheon because mortal religions do not know that he exists. His name, nature, and worship are concealed even more carefully than most secrets kept by dragons. The gem dragons who acknowledge him do not speak freely of that allegiance. Many mortal scholars consequently recognize recurring symbols, behavioral patterns, and unusual psionic traditions among gem dragons without realizing that some of them are connected by a divine relationship. Draddiosos is a god, not merely an exceptionally powerful dragon mistaken for one. His origin, however, is less clearly established than those of the Scalefather and Wyrmmother. The traditions that might preserve the answer are maintained by beings whose defining religious principle is that knowledge does not become safer merely because someone asks for it.
Gem Dragons
Gem dragons form a third great draconic tradition distinct from metallic and chromatic dragonkind. Where metallic dragons are strongly associated with benevolence and the disciplined use of power, and chromatic dragons with selfish domination and predatory ambition, gemstone dragons are more commonly neutral. Their identities are especially shaped by introspection, unusual perception, intellectual independence, and psionics. This neutrality is not indifference. Gem dragons can form powerful loyalties, pursue long projects, intervene in wars, accumulate wealth, protect communities, or become dangerous enemies. They are simply less consistently drawn into the ancient moral opposition represented by the Scalefather and Wyrmmother.
Their psionic capabilities reinforce that independence. Psionics does not appear to rely upon The Confluence in the same manner as conventional spellcasting, and gem dragons have developed traditions of mental perception and metaphysical manipulation that remain poorly understood by most mortal scholars. Draddiosos is deeply connected with these traditions without necessarily being their source. Gem dragons were psionic beings, or possessed the capacity for psionics, as part of their own draconic nature. His divinity shaped, protected, and organized that inheritance rather than simply granting it from nothing.
Secrets
Draddiosos treats secrecy as a responsibility rather than a habit of concealment. Knowledge can protect, liberate, destroy, corrupt, or become dangerous simply because the people who acquire it do not yet understand what it connects to. A secret should therefore be judged partly by what happens if it ceases to be secret.
This separates Draddiosos from Thar Oghmus. Thar Oghmus preserves knowledge because understanding forms part of Creation’s history and should not vanish merely because it becomes inconvenient or obscure. Draddiosos asks whether every piece of preserved knowledge should also be available to anyone capable of finding it. The two concerns can conflict sharply.
A method for destroying a planar barrier, the true name of a dangerous entity, the location of an artifact capable of catastrophic temporal manipulation, or a psionic technique that permanently alters identity may all be historically important while remaining unsafe to distribute freely. Draddiosos is willing to preserve knowledge that almost no one is permitted to access. His followers believe forgetting and revealing are not the only choices.
Psionics
Gem dragon traditions connect Draddiosos strongly with disciplined use of the mind. Psionics permits direct perception or manipulation of metaphysical relationships through mental capacity rather than the conventional structures of spellcasting. To Draddiosos, this makes thought itself both a source of extraordinary freedom and a source of unusual vulnerability. A mind capable of touching relationships directly can also expose itself directly. His teachings therefore emphasize mental boundaries, control over disclosure, resistance to intrusion, deliberate silence, and the ability to recognize when another consciousness is attempting to establish an unwanted relationship.
Gem dragons associated with him often treat a secret held inside the mind as something more significant than information merely stored in memory. The act of choosing who may perceive it becomes part of the knowledge’s meaning. This is one reason their secrecy can appear extreme to outsiders. A truth casually spoken cannot always be put back inside the mind that released it.
Mortal Ignorance
Draddiosos is not worshipped openly by mortals because mortals do not know he exists. No public temple bears his name, and no recognized priesthood explains his doctrine or invites outsiders into his mysteries. What little evidence reaches mortal scholarship appears instead as unexplained gem-dragon customs, recurring symbols, and fragments of psionic practice whose religious context remains hidden.
References to a hidden Gem Scale in mortal texts are rare enough to be dismissed as metaphor, mistranslation, or speculation about gem dragon culture. The Obsidian Enclave unknowingly uses a glowing ruby as its symbol—the same sign associated with Draddiosos. Whether this coincidence reflects ancient influence, forgotten contact, or simple convergence is not understood by the organization’s mortal members. Gem dragons do not correct them.
Even among gem dragons, discussion of Draddiosos is highly restricted. Outsiders who somehow learn the name may discover that asking direct questions produces silence more consistently than denial. The secrecy is effective precisely because Draddiosos does not seek the public recognition most gods receive through mortal religion.
Relationship with the Scalefather and Wyrmmother
Draddiosos stands outside the ancient rivalry between the Scalefather and the Wyrmmother. He does not deny the real distinction between metallic and chromatic dragonkind, nor does he regard their opposing moral tendencies as an illusion that should be reconciled. He simply refuses to define all draconic existence through their conflict.
This independence occasionally makes him useful as a mediator. The Scalefather and Wyrmmother understand one another extremely well and trust one another almost not at all. Draddiosos possesses enough power, draconic legitimacy, and separation from both camps to carry information or negotiate temporary agreements when allowing the rivalry to continue unchecked would threaten interests shared by dragonkind more broadly. His mediation is pragmatic rather than an attempt to produce balance between good and evil.
There are circumstances in which a chromatic dragon plague, an external invasion of Dravakar, a threat from the Nascent Expanse, or the destruction of something foundational to dragonkind gives all three powers a reason to prevent the others from acting blindly. Draddiosos is especially opposed to Primordial Change Spirits and other threats from beyond Creation whose nature undermines the stable relationships necessary for memory, identity, and guarded knowledge to remain meaningful. A secret cannot be protected if the distinction between knowing and not knowing ceases to persist.
Dravakar
Draddiosos resides within the Wyrmhold, the same ancient draconic realm claimed by the Scalefather and Wyrmmother. His presence there does not make him a third claimant in the same sense as those two gods. Metallic and chromatic traditions struggle openly over the moral and political character of the realm, while gem dragons maintain older enclaves, migratory territories, hidden communities, and psionic sanctuaries that participate in Dravakar without attempting to place the entire realm under Draddiosos’s authority.
Gem dragons and souls associated with them can therefore live within regions where Draddiosos’s influence is strong without those regions becoming a separate divine realm. Some such places are deliberately difficult to locate, and their inhabitants often reveal little about their relationship with the Gem Scale. Draddiosos occasionally emerges from this quieter position to mediate disputes between the Scalefather and Wyrmmother when their rivalry threatens interests shared by dragonkind more broadly, but his role is pragmatic rather than an attempt to divide Wyrmhold into three equal divine domains.
Knowledge and Intervention
Draddiosos is not omniscient. Older legends attributing knowledge of everything that has been, is, or will be to him are better understood as expressions of reverence for the scale of his hidden knowledge. No god in Creation possesses unlimited understanding.
His advantage is different. Draddiosos knows many things because others never learn that he knows them. He maintains networks of concealed information across immense spans of time and among creatures capable of exchanging thought in ways ordinary speech cannot reproduce. He intervenes selectively because intervention itself reveals knowledge.
Warning someone that a hidden threat exists may expose the fact that the threat has been discovered. Preventing one disaster can tell an enemy exactly which secret mattered enough to force action. This makes his divine behavior frustrating even to allies. Draddiosos may provide the smallest piece of information necessary for someone else to act while refusing to explain where it came from or what larger pattern he sees. The omission is not always manipulation. Sometimes explanation would create the danger he is attempting to prevent.
Appearance and Character
Draddiosos is rarely depicted even within the traditions that know him. When represented, he appears as an immense gemstone dragon whose scales shift through the colors and optical qualities of precious stones. Light may refract through his body rather than simply reflect from it, producing colors that seem to originate beneath the surface. His eyes are usually the least elaborate feature. They are described as still, direct, and uncomfortable to meet because observers become intensely aware of thoughts they have not spoken. He is patient, reserved, and almost impossible to provoke into explaining more than he has decided to reveal.
This should not be mistaken for emotionlessness. Draddiosos can be protective, curious, contemptuous, amused, or furious. He simply sees no reason that feeling something creates an obligation to display it. His followers understand one of his central lessons well: Knowledge belongs to Creation. Access does not have to belong to everyone.
