Realm: Caelra
Region: Deep Wilds
Nature: Ancient cold forest
Inhabitants: Several fey peoples and native Caelran communities
The Shiverpine Forest is an immense cold woodland within the Deep Wilds of Caelra. Snow covers much of the region for long periods, while bitter winds move through forests of towering evergreens adapted to conditions far harsher than those of most mortal woodlands. Despite the cold, Shiverpine is neither barren nor dormant. Dense ecosystems persist beneath the canopy and snow, reflecting the unusual vitality of the Realm of Impulse.
Repeated movement and long-standing patterns of use can become especially important within the forest. Trails maintained by generations of hunters or travelers may remain remarkably persistent, while abandoned routes can disappear beneath growth and snow with unusual speed. Native communities understand these relationships well enough that paths, hunting grounds, seasonal camps, and territorial boundaries can possess histories as meaningful as constructed roads elsewhere.
Several fey peoples inhabit Shiverpine, though no single culture controls the forest as a whole. Communities range from permanent settlements to migratory groups whose movements follow seasonal resources and relationships established across generations.
Mortal knowledge of Shiverpine remains limited. Visitors most often remember the severe cold and immense forests, while the older histories of the people who live there are known primarily within Caelra itself.
