The Deep Wilds are a vast region of Caelra where living systems, instinct, emotion, and action have accumulated unusually strong relationships over immense spans of time. Mortal traditions sometimes use the name as though it referred to all of Caelra, but the Deep Wilds are only one part of the broader Realm of Impulse.
Forests dominate much of the region, though mountains, rivers, valleys, wetlands, and other environments also exist within it. Life responds strongly to repeated behavior and long-standing relationships, and paths, territories, and ecosystems can change in ways that reflect how inhabitants interact with them.
The Deep Wilds are not untouched wilderness. Fey communities, settlements, old territories, and political boundaries exist throughout the region, many with histories largely unknown outside Caelra.
Shiverpine Forest lies within the Deep Wilds and represents one of its colder regions.
