The Caelradin are a fey people native to Caelra, the Realm of Impulse. Their oldest histories belong to that realm rather than Kor Sirok, and Caelradin communities have existed within Caelra for far longer than most mortal records of planar travel. They are one of several peoples that mortal scholars commonly group under the broad category of fey, alongside centaurs, fairies, satyrs, and many less familiar inhabitants of the realm.
Caelradin societies have developed across many regions of Caelra. Some are associated with forests and other living landscapes, while others inhabit cities, cultivated territories, mountain regions, or environments shaped by long patterns of ceremony, conflict, art, migration, and public life. Their customs reflect the same diversity found among other ancient peoples of the realm.
Caelra and Kor Sirok
Caelradin physiology and innate magic developed within a reality where emotion, intention, and outward expression have a stronger relationship with the surrounding environment than they do on Kor Sirok. Traits that mortal observers regard as unusually expressive or mutable are ordinary parts of Caelradin life and are understood through the traditions of the communities in which they are raised.
Travel between Caelra and Kor Sirok has occurred through planar seams, Crossings, and Vergeways for much of recorded history. Caelradin travelers, migrants, emissaries, scholars, merchants, and adventurers have therefore appeared on Kor Sirok at many different times. Some established permanent families and communities, while others retained stronger ties to Caelra or eventually returned there.
The Sundering made most planar relationships involving Kor Sirok more difficult, but Caelra remains among the comparatively accessible realms because of its strong reflective relationship with the physical world. Caelradin on Kor Sirok are consequently uncommon rather than unknown.
Culture and Identity
Caelradin identity is shaped heavily by place. A person raised in an old Caelran city, a community of the Deep Wilds, a settlement on Kor Sirok, or a family accustomed to moving between realities may understand ancestry, religion, obligation, and personal expression in very different ways.
Mortal stories frequently portray Caelradin as embodiments of Caelra’s emotional intensity. This exaggerates a real connection between their ancestry and their native realm while overlooking the institutions and disciplines developed by Caelradin societies over long histories. Caelradin can be spontaneous, restrained, ceremonial, pragmatic, contemplative, or anything between, depending on the people and circumstances involved.
