The Stonesinger Clan is one of the five ruling clans of Krynhold and the leading political force in the kingdom since the successful revolution of 8753 SE. Its traditional base lies in the mines and in the communities whose labor extracts much of the iron and gold on which Krynhold’s economy depends.

The clan’s connection to mining gave it access to a much broader constituency than the ruling clans’ elite families alone. By the years leading up to 8753 SE, the Stonesingers were able to build a populist movement around dissatisfaction with the treatment of miners and other working people. Their supporters argued that those who produced the kingdom’s wealth bore too much of its burden while possessing too little influence over the government that depended upon them.

Opponents disputed the movement’s motives. Traditionalists such as Arcanist Thordahr argued that the Stonesingers ultimately wanted power and used legitimate grievances to undermine the existing leadership. The movement’s rise also occurred during worsening tensions with the Huraz Confederation, then increasingly influenced by the Cult of the Stars, which intensified arguments over security, economic pressure, and the competence of Krynhold’s traditional government.

The Stonesinger revolution succeeded in 8753 SE. The previous head of the Blackbanner Clan, which had long dominated the Council of Five Hammers, fled the kingdom and went into hiding. The Stonesingers did not abolish the Council or strip the other great clans of their Hammers. Instead, they consolidated control within the established political system and replaced the Blackbanners as the leading clan.

After the initial period of consolidation, Stonesinger leadership settled into the ordinary work of governing Krynhold. The revolution is therefore remembered both as a genuine populist challenge to entrenched privilege and as the event through which one of the Five displaced another at the center of power. Those interpretations remain politically important because both are supported by recognizable parts of the same history.

Krynhold’s mines are known to contain rich deposits of iron and gold. Persistent rumors claim that the Stonesingers have also discovered veins of mithril, but the clan has never confirmed such a find and no publicly recognized shipments of mithril ore have emerged from its workings.
