Pheres was a brass-scaled Dragonborn from Phalygos and a clutch-brother of Xanthos. Little is recorded about his life, but his death became one of the events that pushed Xanthos to leave the isolated mountain community and seek membership in the Aegis Regnum.
Pheres was found dead in a cavern in the mountains near Phalygos with severe trauma to his skull and brain. Scylla recognized the injuries as matching old accounts of Nharvek feeding: not merely the consumption of flesh, but the taking of memory, learned experience, personality, and the accumulated relationships through which a sapient being maintains a stable identity within Creation. Whether anything useful remained of Pheres’s memories after the attack is not recorded. For Xanthos, the killing demonstrated that threats rooted in the Nascent Expanse could reach even his own clan, turning his long-held desire to join the Aegis into a decision to leave home and confront those dangers directly.
