Brenton Woolfe was an Elgaard merchant and trader whose involvement with Luther Mortanas helped draw the Brass Blades into the conflict that nearly destroyed the organization in 8751 SE. While under Mortanas’s influence, Woolfe worked with Darieth Ariessus as an intermediary for the unusually lucrative contract accepted by Davrek Valzorwyn. The job ultimately became part of Mortanas’s attack on both the Ariessus family and the Brass Blades, leaving most of each group dead by the time Davrek and Phelps escaped to Trinswood.
When the surviving Blades later traced the contract back to Woolfe, they interrogated him for information about Mortanas. Darieth killed him during the confrontation, but the Blades restored Woolfe to life so they could continue following the trail. Fearing retaliation from Mortanas, Woolfe fled Elgaard. Mortanas’s reach proved longer than Woolfe expected: he was found and killed again, and his body was disposed of in the ocean.
The Brass Blades recovered Woolfe’s body and resurrected him a second time, after which he was reunited with his wife and daughter. Grateful for their efforts and no longer acting under Mortanas’s influence, Woolfe later supported the Blades’ mining enterprise outside Trinswood. His role in the crisis illustrates both the extent of Mortanas’s ability to manipulate intermediaries and the unusually complicated loyalties created during the Blades’ reconstruction.
