Harzadin was the Qadhran head priest of Beskatel during the final years of the Mythic Era and the formal ritual leader of the failed attempt to reinforce the Twilight Veil. The project arose after Razhima demonstrated that the Veil was genuinely weakening and the Huraz Confederation concluded that the danger required a coordinated response. Although the Qadhran priesthood was the principal institutional sponsor, clergy from several Huraz traditions participated with the approval of the confederal government.
Razhima supplied the research and much of the ritual design, while Harzadin coordinated the larger body of clergy responsible for putting that design into practice. The distinction became blurred in later memory. Because Harzadin publicly led the working and the Qadhran were its most visible advocates, later generations frequently treated the disaster as a Qadhran attempt to improve an ancient defense they did not understand.
The ritual initially appeared successful before the hidden weakness in the Veil catastrophically ruptured and allowed Urzhaleth and other beings associated with the Nascent Expanse to establish an incursion. The resulting crisis forced the divine intervention remembered as the Sundering. Surviving records establish Harzadin’s responsibility for leading the ritual but do not establish that he knew of the external manipulation affecting Razhima’s research, nor do they preserve enough evidence to assign him sole responsibility for a project approved and supported by much broader Huraz institutions.
