Waeldstone is a small village nestled between the cliffs on the northern shores of Inis Markul. Though small in population, the town has a somewhat active harbor. The harbor serves as a resupply point for trading ships heading into or out from the Skyre Islands and it also serves as the sole means of selling the primary product of Waeldstone, copper.
Waeldstone is home to one of the most productive copper mines in Kor Sirok, and it has brought a fortune of wealth and power to Thegn Ulrik Lindvig who governs Inis Markul. There are a few smaller businesses in town, but all of them essentially support the mines. Jameson Lorcain runs Lorcain’s Dry Goods, a general store that supplies the townsfolk and travelers with a variety of goods and sundries, and everything from abacuses to woodcarver’s tools can be found there. Amos Cosgair runs The Big Hammer, a smithy that primarily produces tools for the miners, but does occasionally produce weapons for the town watch or hunters in the village. The final business of note is Boils and Bubbles, an alchemist and apothecary run by Berenger Greenhand, the only halfling in Waeldstone. Berenger mostly makes minor poultices and remedies, but many say he has skills beyond those the villagers usually seek.
The local inn is the Drunken Miner, run by a friendly dwarf named Mungrom Ashmail. The inn serves sailors awaiting storms to pass or ships to restock. It also houses merchants negotiating trade deals in the mines. The Drunken Miner is carved into the wall of the cliff that forms the western edge of Waeldstone and its rooms have a wonderful view of the sea crashing against the rocks outside the bay.
Cliffgar Lighthouse marks the entrance to the bay and guides the trade ships through the dangerous shoals around Waeldstone. Its light has shown for many years and it is typically manned by a crew of three on a three month rotation.
