Realm: Xathoryn
Nature: Major industrial city-state
Ruler: Forge Sovereign
Primary Strengths: Mining, metallurgy, manufacturing
Drazhul is one of the four great city-states of Xathoryn and the realm’s foremost center of mining, metallurgy, and large-scale manufacture. Its power rests upon enormous mineral deposits and upon generations of specialized knowledge devoted to extracting, refining, alloying, and shaping materials formed under the extreme conditions of the Realm of Flame.
Appearance
Drazhul is built through a broad volcanic region broken by mines, foundries, slag fields, fortified industrial districts, and channels carrying molten material between processing sites. Much of the city is constructed from dark stone, ceramics, and heat-resistant alloys, with workshops and furnaces integrated directly into the surrounding geology.
The city’s skyline is dominated less by palaces than by industrial works. Foundry towers, ventilation structures, cranes, fortified storehouses, and enormous enclosed workshops make the production of Drazhul visible from nearly every major district.
Government and Industry
Drazhul is ruled by the Forge Sovereign, whose government maintains close control over major mines, foundries, strategic materials, and important manufacturing techniques. Industrial knowledge is treated as an instrument of state power, and some processes are guarded as carefully as military secrets.
This control does not mean every workshop belongs directly to the ruler. Guilds, families, military suppliers, and private manufacturers operate throughout the city, but industries considered essential to Drazhul’s security remain subject to extensive oversight.
The state’s armies benefit directly from this industrial base. Drazhul may not always field forces as numerous as those of the City of Brass, but its soldiers are exceptionally well supplied, and its ability to replace weapons, armor, fortifications, and equipment makes it particularly dangerous in prolonged conflicts.
Role in Xathoryn
The other great powers depend upon Drazhul even while competing with it. The City of Brass relies upon its manufactured goods and materials, Selqara requires tools and infrastructure for its cultivated territories, and Ithraz depends upon specialized components that elemental power alone cannot easily replace.
Drazhul therefore exercises considerable influence without conquering its neighbors. Interrupting the supply of a rare alloy, engineered component, or specialized tool can sometimes achieve more than sending an army across a border.
