The Voiceless were a secretive cult active beneath Arkrist during the early adventures of the Drakefire Phalanx. Their cells used abduction, ritual murder, deception, and hidden sanctuaries within taverns, safehouses, sewers, and older ruins. Several of their rites drew upon symbols and practices associated with Kalabold, particularly tests of cunning, deception, and willingness to cross moral boundaries.

The cult publicly presented little coherent doctrine because most members knew only fragments of the larger purpose. Initiates spoke of the Shadow, and some cells used sacrificial rites to identify or prepare people they considered worthy. The Voiceless also sought the Deceiver’s Key, an artifact associated with Kalabold and the thief Cozelach.

The conspiracy ultimately centered on Xumanon, an ancient shadow dragon imprisoned beneath the city. Guzzax, then Dawn of the Wraith River Union, secretly led the Voiceless and believed Xumanon’s release could overturn Arkrist’s existing order and empower people he regarded as abandoned by it. His methods included murder, sacrifice, manipulation of the Union, and the deliberate destruction of both Union and Justiciar forces when they threatened the cult.

Guzzax was killed during his attempt to open Xumanon’s prison, and the prison was resealed. The organized Voiceless network was badly broken by his death, although the full extent of surviving cells was never established with certainty.
