Dandod Herfsson was the Thegn of Inis Muirin during the Asnor Succession War of 8723 SE. He was widely regarded as charismatic and personally well liked among both his own followers and many of his peers, giving him political influence that was not based solely on military strength.
Inis Muirin controlled some of the largest areas of productive farmland in Asnorland outside Inis Faerna, and Dandod’s position was strengthened by a substantial merchant fleet used to move grain among the islands. Those resources made his support especially valuable during a civil conflict in which armies and fortified settlements depended as much upon transport and provisions as battlefield victories.
Dandod rejected Ulrik Lindvig’s claim to the Stadtholdership and recognized Cap Tan Ro’geers after Cap emerged as the bearer of the Mantle of Rektesh. He joined Ornolf Varsson and the other forces supporting Cap during the succession war, contributing Inis Muirin’s ships, supplies, and military resources to the coalition that ultimately prevailed.
