The Mitan Sea is the broad central body of water lying between Aesala and Patoris and north of much of Auslura. The island nation of Danto occupies a roughly central position among the three major continents, making the sea one of the principal geographic reference points for long-distance travel even though Danto itself is not considered part of any continent.
Modern shipping crosses the Mitan Sea for trade, diplomacy, scholarship, pilgrimage, and ordinary travel. Routes vary according to destination, season, prevailing weather, and the ports willing to receive a particular vessel.
