Patoris is one of the three major continents of Kor Sirok and lies primarily in the world’s conventional eastern hemisphere. Its known regions include cold northern kingdoms, ancient forests, broad plains, deserts transformed by immense waterworks, and long-inhabited coastlines. Several of the world’s oldest surviving states and most important modern cities are found on Patoris, but they share no single political or cultural tradition.
Northern Patoris is dominated politically by Tadrium, a hereditary kingdom of dense forests, fertile valleys, iron-bearing uplands, rugged coastlines, and long winters. Elgaard, the Tadrian capital, is one of the continent’s largest commercial and political centers. The kingdom’s settled landscape includes farms, estates, mines, ports, forest communities, and fortified sites linked by roads that become increasingly difficult to maintain in the colder and more remote parts of the country.
Western Patoris includes Caldarai, an old elven kingdom whose settlements are built through and around a heavily managed ancient forest rather than replacing it. Ifal Nalanore on the northern coast is Caldarai’s principal center for foreign trade and diplomacy. The presence of Rienda Tower has also tied the kingdom to the College Arcanum for centuries and contributed to local legal traditions surrounding magical coercion, consent, and testimony.
Farther into the continent, the Qurnaan Desert contains the heartland of the Huraz Confederation. Huraz transformed portions of an arid and historically unstable environment through the construction of Zhar Qazir, Majra al-Qaranth, and the engineered Qaranth River. Those works made Qaranth possible at a scale that the surrounding desert could not otherwise sustain and remain among the most consequential feats of mortal engineering on Kor Sirok.
Other major landscapes include the Aessjorthe Plains and the region around Mount Caraphat, whose destruction became entangled with the damage to the Twilight Veil preceding the Harrowing. The continent also contains surviving works of the Qhalleess Empire, later ruins, and extensive subterranean regions connected to the Underdark. Drow cities including Olath Belanore have existed beneath Patoris independently of the surface states above them.
Patoris has been shaped by long-distance trade as much as by overland borders. Its northern ports, Caldarai’s controlled foreign access, Huraz’s caravan routes, and the maritime approaches through the Mitan Sea connect political systems that otherwise developed under very different geographic conditions. Rivalries between neighboring powers can therefore coexist with extensive movement of merchants, scholars, pilgrims, mercenaries, and travelers across the continent.
