The Eponymous Archon is the head of state and chief bureaucrat of Arkrist and serves as head of the Synod. The office is widely regarded as the most powerful of Arkrist’s three senior elected positions because of its influence over the laws later enforced under the Polemarch and adjudicated under the Basileus.
The title comes from an older Arkrist practice of naming years after the reigning Archon, such as the second year of Kyron the Fifth. Arkrist later adopted the broader dating practices used elsewhere in Kor Sirok, including eras such as the Dawn Era and Shattered Era, and the older eponymous dating system fell out of use.
