Mesus is a settlement and the center of a surrounding province on the Drakefire Peninsula. It is connected to Arkrist by river traffic and serves the farms, timber country, and older estates scattered through the surrounding landscape. The countryside becomes increasingly quiet away from the main roads, with abandoned logging tracks reaching properties that have long since ceased to participate in ordinary local life.
Travelers commonly use the Leviathan’s Respite as lodging in town. Local stories also preserve an unusually persistent fear of the Ipswitch family and their abandoned estate south of the settlement. Those stories were once treated as ghost tales, but events during the Drakefire campaign confirmed that Ipswitch Manor had been affected by powerful and deeply abnormal magic.
