The history of Kor Sirok is marked by several events whose consequences extend far beyond the nations or peoples directly involved. These events shaped the conditions under which later civilizations developed and continue to influence religion, magic, planar scholarship, politics, and the understanding of the world’s past.
This overview is not a complete chronology. Regional wars, dynastic struggles, migrations, discoveries, and local catastrophes are recorded throughout the histories of individual nations and peoples. The events listed here are those whose consequences fundamentally altered Creation or Kor Sirok as a whole.
The First War
The First War was the foundational conflict among the Ancient Kindred. What began as disagreement over authority, agency, obligation, and the rights of created beings escalated as all four Kindred altered Creation in increasingly profound ways.
The accumulation of incompatible foundational changes eventually produced the First Paradox. Its emergence, the destruction of the Broken Hour, and the death of Aevareth became the decisive breaking point of the conflict. The war ended with the Concord of Creation, which imposed lasting limits upon the exercise of foundational power within Creation.
The Twilight War
The Twilight War was the nearly century-long conflict that destroyed the Qhalleess Empire. Experiments conducted under the authority of Vhar Qharath opened a path beyond Creation and allowed beings associated with the Nascent Expanse to establish themselves within the empire.
The greatest of these threats was Yoshithlulb. The war ended when Tarrasha, one of the Fifteen members of Vhar Qharath, sacrificed herself to banish Yoshithlulb and create the Twilight Veil. The Qhalleess Empire did not survive the conflict, and its descendants inherited a world profoundly changed by it.
The Sundering
The Sundering occurred at the end of the Mythic Era after a catastrophic breach of the Twilight Veil threatened another large-scale incursion from beyond Creation. Naevra and the gods intervened by weakening the metaphysical relationships between Kor Sirok’s physical universe and the wider planes.
The intervention prevented a second Twilight War but permanently changed magic, religion, and planar travel. Direct divine manifestation became extraordinarily difficult, many planar routes failed, and civilizations dependent upon strong planar relationships lost systems they could no longer sustain. The Sundering marks the beginning of the Shattered Era.
The Harrowing
The Harrowing occurred from 31–34 Yilaver, 8753 SE. During the catastrophe, Othrazhul appeared to approach Kor Sirok as an immense new moon while corpses rose across the world and organic matter decayed with unnatural speed.
The Brass Blades ultimately stopped the crisis. Davrek Valzorwyn used the Rift Spar to sever Othrazhul’s connection to Kor Sirok and force the entity back beyond Creation, dying in the process. The artifact survived and immediately afterward became the catalyst for Abendigo’s apotheosis. Davrek was later restored through True Resurrection.
The supernatural catastrophe lasted only three days, but famine, disease, violence, and political disruption continued afterward. Modern estimates place total humanoid mortality from the event and its aftermath at roughly fifteen to twenty percent of the global population. Approximately sixty years later, the Harrowing remains one of the defining events of living historical memory.
