Ip Cham was the Djozan of the Bear Paw Order in 8753 SE. As Djozan, he was both the senior religious authority of the order and the highest political authority of its surrounding Djozanate, as well as one of the eleven bearers of the guarded tradition preserved by the Djozanates of the Kenai Mountains.
During the period of the Grand Army of the Djozanates, Ip Cham traveled to the Twin Dragon Monastery and was captured by Venorik Killianen. The surviving record does not establish why he made the journey or the exact circumstances of his capture. His captivity nevertheless deprived the Bear Paw Order of the active presence of its Djozan at a time when Hiuh Lao was using magical influence and the prestige of the Leopard Song Order to concentrate authority over the normally independent Djozanates.
The Brass Blades rescued Ip Cham in 8753 SE. After his release, he helped organize resistance to Dhuulan’s control, and the Bear Paw Order became one of the principal centers of opposition to the Grand Army. Bear Paw forces subsequently worked with the Eagle Wing Order and the Brass Blades in the campaign that exposed Dhuulan’s identity, broke his influence over the Kenai leadership, and ended the Grand Army. Ip Cham’s later life is not established.
