Yuen Lung was the Djozan of the Leopard Song Order until his death in 8753 SE. Leopard Song was the largest and most prestigious of the eleven Djozanates of the Kenai Mountains, giving its Djozan considerable influence in cooperation among the otherwise independent orders even though Yuen possessed no constitutional authority to command the other Djozans.
Beginning in the early 8750s SE, Yuen came under the magical influence of Dhuulan Havar, who operated under the identity Hiuh Lao and served as Leopard Song’s Sword Arm. Dhuulan exploited Yuen’s office, Leopard Song’s prestige, and similar manipulation of other leaders to create the Grand Army of the Djozanates, an unprecedented common military structure that brought forces from all eleven orders under one command. The surviving record does not establish precisely how much independent judgment Yuen retained while under Dhuulan’s influence, and responsibility for the decisions made through his compromised office cannot be separated cleanly from that manipulation.
The Brass Blades, Bear Paw Order, and Eagle Wing Order broke Dhuulan’s control in 8753 SE. The Brass Blades’ use of the Clockwork Heart disrupted the synchronization magic underlying Zhaken’s influence devices and helped free affected leaders from the reinforcing enchantment. After Dhuulan’s defeat, Yuen exercised one of the Djozan’s most important legitimate powers by naming Chan Kong-Sang as his successor. Chan freely accepted the appointment, after which Yuen transmitted the guarded religious knowledge carried by every Djozan. The ancient binding covenant governing the succession caused Yuen to die when the transmission was complete, leaving Chan as the new Djozan of the Leopard Song Order.
