Inis Tierneg is one of the central islands of the Skyre Islands, positioned among the close channels linking Inis Muirin, Inis Olsang, Inis Markul, and Inis Nuadha. Its location gives its ports strategic importance for ships moving through the central archipelago. The island’s terrain is cut by short rivers and irregular coasts rather than dominated by the large mountain systems seen on Inis Faerna or Inis Cailean.
The island is an Asnor Thegndom and is traditionally associated with Cain Seanain of the Skyre Folk. Aalund, on the western side of the island, is its principal city and political center. Other known settlements include Jaunska, Bindelund, Alfsoss, Fellstrond, and Manarfell.
Inis Tierneg was heavily affected by the Asnor Succession War of 8723 SE. Its Thegn, Gunhild Hildadottir, opposed Ulrik Lindvig and was killed during the conflict. Lindvig’s supporters subsequently held Aalund as an important military position, and the Siege of Aalund became one of the decisive campaigns of the war. Skyre scouts associated with Cain Seanain aided the coalition that eventually broke that occupation.
